Relevant wisdom!

Are you relevant? Give me 60 seconds and I’ll give you the answer!

Go…..

Ultimately we all seek to be relevant amidst the multiple aspects of our lives. No, not reliant…relevant! Whether its relevance manifest through one’s vocation, in our neighborhood or within the arena of relational interaction, we seek it. You may (and should) ask how I define this relevance and why I ought to care anyway! Then again others may exclaim: “Stop using clever, multifarious words when you write, would ya!” And if you did, I’d be impressed! Seriously, I would submit the odds are that worldly relevance seeks to fill the needs of the captive individual at the probable expense of others.  If I were Spock, I’d most likely divulge the odds at this juncture without solicitation as I’m confident that they are most high indeed. True relevance originates from the throne of God in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and of knowledge. Yet they are not in words taught by human wisdom (or even within the mainstream media… hard to believe, I know) but instead in those taught by the Spirit, communicating spiritual by spiritual. Wait, this is crucial, please pause your stopwatch and read the previous two sentences again.

Don’t expect to hear Godly wisdom from those who do not seek the council of God continually and relentlessly on a daily basis. The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolish to him and he cannot know them because they are spiritually discerned. This spiritually discernment comes only from knowing Christ and meditating on His Word. As far as God is concerned, the wisdom of this world is foolishness to Him. Yet was it His intent to create irrational, primitive people with no perceived purpose? Heavens no! Instead, He created man in His image with an intelligent, discerning mind which by the way, also provides for the unique ability to accept or reject Him through supernatural communication. Do that in a test tube!

The Apostle Paul, who was one conscientious dude, tells us specifically to never cease praying…..ever! Well, not quite the 24/7 variety which would force us to forego eating, sleeping and our vocation indefinitely. No, instead he refers to a continual Spirit of prayer. Ask the Lord that you may be filled with the full knowledge of his will, in all wisdom and spiritual understanding amidst every decision you make…big or small. Just don’t wait for an answer on which grade of gasoline you feel led to put on your car, ok. That one’s up to you.

Finally, be mindful that we all do not receive the same portion of wisdom. For to one, by the Spirit, is given a word of wisdom and to another, a word of knowledge and so on, all according to the same Spirit. Therefore, if you believe you lack wisdom, feel confused, befuddled or even occasionally dim-witted, inquire of God with a pure heart as He gives freely to all who ask.

Really, He does!

Now I ask you again, are you relevant?

I would be blessed if you shared your thoughts!
