What about those who never hear the Gospel?

Have you ever heard this argument: “Not everyone has heard of the Gospel, therefore God must have left the door open for salvation through another means other than Jesus!” Scripture says that there is no other name other than that of Jesus Christ which men will be saved (Acts 4:12). Yet there are most certainly remote “tribes” and uncivilized “peoples” who have no access to Scripture. Who will tell them about Jesus? Jesus most certainly died for them as well!

Well for one, missionaries this very day diligently and faithfully labor to this end. Christians who are able need to support their endeavors through prayer and financial support. Even so, the Bible makes two assertions which give us confidence that God has not abandoned the lost:

1) The evidence for God is clear, so that men are without excuse:

The heavens declare the glory of God;And the firmament shows His handiwork.Day unto day utters speech,And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor language,Where their voice is not heard.(Psalm 19:1,3)

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse. (Rom. 1:20)

We can see manifested through countless examples that creation itself bears testimony to a Creator. If some come to your mind, please feel free to comment on them.

2) He who seeks, finds:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Matt. 7:7)

So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Luke 11:9)

Scripture reveals that those who desire to know Him will be given the knowledge needed for salvation. Those who seek God will have God sufficiently revealed to them. Nonetheless, the body of Christ must continue diligently in our missionary efforts. Rest assured that where we eventually may fall short, He will make a way where there seems to be no other way………as He always does!

  1. Seems spot on to me. But it ix totally ‘bonkers’ and ‘unfair’ in the eyes of the world, apparently. Trying to impute their own mindset into God’s perfect will.

  3. I fear that some folks question God’s character without realizing it.

I appreciate your post and agree with it. I will add these thoughts.

God is love. God is just. God is right. No person will be held accountable for something that they knew nothing about. As you wisely point out, in the creation God has given the light of revelation to every man and each person is required to respond positively to the light he has. Men are in trouble because they reject the measure of light given to them. Men turn away from the light because their deeds are evil.

God will deal with every person lovingly, righteously, and with justice. Do do less would make Him someone other than God.
