What is truth?

Since this blog is entitled “Thy Word is Truth”, I thought it prudent to list in a brief format, the major beliefs or doctrines of the historic, Christian faith. This list answers many of the questions/ objections that arise when dialoguing either with unbelievers or those involved in a non-Christian religious belief system (i.e. cult). Every believer must be ready to give an answer and a reason for the hope that lies within them with gentleness and respect. We are commanded in Scripture to tests all things and hold fast to the good. Rest assured, all of life’s answers can be found in the pages of Scripture and on your knees in prayer. Though there are many more, these essential truths provide a great foundation for those who seek to define and understand the basic beliefs of Christianity as represented in the Old and New Testaments. They also provide great hope and assurance of faith to present believers in Christ.

For the sake of brevity only the Scripture references are listed. This list had been provided by http://www.carm.org/doctrine/basicdoc.htm

  1. Jim,
    -How about repentance?
Mat4.17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

-Is it mere belief in Jesus as the Son of GOd that one will be saved?
    -Once saved, always saved?

Philip2.12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

    Shalom Aleichem,
